Members of the Ram Mandir Trust for 2022-21
The Government of India established the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra to oversee the construction and management of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya. There are 15 trustees in the trust.
It was made in response to the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of M Siddiq(D) Thr Lrs vs Mahant Suresh Das & Ors. Within three months of the judgment, the court ordered the central government to establish a trust to oversee and manage the temple’s construction. On February 5, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of the trust in the Lok Sabha.
Members of the Ram Mandir Trust for 2022-21
The trust’s 12 out of 15 members were chosen by the federal government. Former Attorney General Kesava Parasaran, who represented Shri Ram Lalla Virajmaan in the Ayodhya case, was named acting chairman. The trust nominated the rest of its members and elected Mahant Nrityagopal Das as chairman on February 19, 2022.
The trust will have 15 members: 9 permanent members and 6 nominated members, all of whom must be practicing Hindus.
Permanent members :
- Shri Ram Lalla Virajmaan was represented by K. Parasaran.
- four religious leaders from India’s various temples
- The Nirmohi Akhara’s representative
- two prominent citizens from the district of Ayodhya
- A member of the dalit community
Members nominated:
- The trust will elect two prominent people to be members of the trust by a majority vote.
- One representative will be appointed by the central government and will be an IAS officer at the joint secretary level or higher.
- The state government will nominate one representative, who will be an IAS officer in the state government.
- The ex-officio trustee will be the Ayodhya District Magistrate (If serving DM is not a Hindu then the additional magistrate will sit on the board).
- The trust board will also choose the chairman of the Ram Temple complex’s construction committee, who will serve as an ex-officio trustee.
